Children's Worship
9:50-10:25am
Here at Valley Church, children are valued and nurtured. We
are committed to helping them learn how to worship. Perhaps they
won't always understand what is going on , or what is being
said, but children can understand that this is a place where
they are loved and accepted. They can come to understand that we
place great value on worshipping God as a community. They can
begin learning this practice at a young age.
If we designed a church for our littlest
members there would be a lot more noise, random
movement, spontaneous laughter and tears, shouts of joy,
and plenty of stories. We could do better as a
congregation to worship more like our children which is why starting this
fall we are encouraging our children to stay with us in
worship. To teach us. We imagine that they will learn a lot too. Children in second through fifth
grade will remain in worship with their parents and
other trusted adults. Worship bags and other materials
are provided in the children's corner of the Narthex.
Children ages 2 through 1st grade may
choose to leave the traditional service (9:30am) after
the Time for Children to attend children's worship
hosted by our Christian Educator, Wendy Fields.
They will praise God with prayer and songs, hear stories
using the Godly Play method, and respond to these
stories with engaging activities. Children will be
ushered to their Sunday School classrooms at the end of
Children's Worship.
Children four years of age or older
will remain in the Wellsprings service (11:15)
throughout. It is a smaller family friendly service with
energetic music, pictures, and a special place in the
sanctuary for small children and their parents to sit
and dance around. Communion is served weekly. Children
age five and younger may choose to visit the nursery.
