PRISM

People Responding in Social Ministry (PRISM) is a social service agency that annually helps 5,000 + people living in the local community. PRISM provides a food shelf, clothing, financial assistance, transportation and resources. In addition, they offer the support to help people transform their lives with dignity and accountability.
Valley contributes to the PRISM food shelf weekly. Valley designates that the first Sunday of each month is “Food Shelf Sunday”.
Valley donates toys and gifts and hosts PRISM’s annual Christmas gift distribution day. Valley also contributes a significant portion of the annual mission and outreach budget to PRISM.
Valley supports PRISM’s Express Bus system, which is used by some of our senior members to get to church on Sunday mornings.

Families Moving Forward

Mission-oriented, volunteer-driven social service agency with 2 programs:
  - 40 local congregations work together to provide emergency shelter to about
    60 homeless families each year
  - Provides affordable rental housing for homeless families using gifts and
    donations
Valley one of the 40 member congregations who host homeless families
Host 2-3 times a year with many volunteer opportunities available including serving meals, entertaining children, overnight hosts, setup and cleanup and washing linens.

Home Free Women’s Shelter

Provides a safe haven for abused women and their children
600+ women use the shelter annually
Provides legal advocacy and professional support
Valley provides annual financial support, donations of personal care products, and cell phones which are programmed to call 911

Habitat for Humanity

Provides affordable, quality housing for low-income people
Homeowners provide “sweat equity”, pay below-market price and receive interest free loans
Volunteers, including adults and youth from Valley, provide free labor to help build homes
10% of Valley's Capital Campaign is committed to Habitat
- $66,000 over 3 years
- Built a home in Golden Valley

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery

Works with parents in crisis to strengthen families and prevent abuse and neglect
Supports families 24 hours a day/365 days a year
- Crisis hotline
- Counseling and referrals
- 72 hour residential child care
- Parent education and home visits
