Celebrating Our Future

We
have lived our lives with Valley. We have celebrated births,
baptisms, and confirmations. We have benefited from
education programs, youth group, work camps, and fellowship
activities. We have attended weddings and funerals, listened
to our choirs, and worshipped together. We rejoice with
families in good times and offer prayers and support through
life's challenges.
At
the end of 2007 we will successfully complete a capital
campaign. We have been able to take care of many deferred
maintenance issues. We replaced the flat roofs in the
education wing, resurfaced the parking lot, painted inside
and out, replaced carpet throughout the church, added a new
sprinkler and alarm system, and contributed ten percent of
the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.
In
order to be good stewards of our building we are faced with
the need to address remaining maintenance issues. It is
imperative we make our building as energy efficient as
possible, for environmental considerations as well savings
in energy costs. The current boiler was installed in 1952,
runs at only 50% efficiency, and is outdated and in need of
replacement. We need to redo the roofs over the sanctuary
and lounge. The seals on many of our windows are broken and
their ineffectiveness adds to energy costs. We have long
wanted to add air conditioning to the fellowship hall and
replace the antiquated system in the education wing.
To
be stewards of our church we must also invest in human
capital. Ten percent of the proceeds of this campaign will
be allotted to moving towards financially securing a
secondary ministerial position.
With
a view to the past we offer our gratitude to those who built
this church from the ground up. We look to the future and
see a church relevant in the community, active in mission
and justice issues, and accepting of all people. Through the
love of Jesus Christ we have an opportunity to create a
lasting legacy.
