Valley is a vibrant growing faith community that is open and affirming for all. We offer multiple weekly services featuring a wide range of musical talent. We have growing ministries for children, youth, and young families. Over one quarter of our budget is spent on supporting great organizations including our local food shelves, shelters and schools.

Valley welcomes ALL people to join us in worship, spiritual growth, friendship and service to others. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, Valley has a place for you!

As visitors walk through our doors, they feel the spirit of inclusion where all people are important and accepted! We embrace diversity in our congregation and community and welcome them into full membership and participation in all aspects of our church life.

What is a Presbyterian?

The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination in the United States. It is the largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S. and known for its relatively progressive stance on doctrine. In its confessions, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) expresses the faith of the Reformed tradition. Central to this tradition is the affirmation of the majesty, holiness and providence of God who creates, sustains, rules and redeems the world in the freedom of sovereign righteousness and love.

Have questions about the Presbyterian faith? Many of our members have come from other faith backgrounds, and we welcome your questions as you seek to learn more on your own particular journey of faith. You can start here to learn what it means to be a Presbyterian. You can also join the Adult Education classes Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to learn more, and you can arrange to meet with a pastor, or ask staff and members questions over coffee.

The PCUSA is in full communion covenant relationship with:
Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), Reformed Church in America (RCA), United Church of Christ (UCC), Covenant Relationship Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad, Moravian-Reformed Covenant Partnership.

Sexuality and Same-Gender Relationships
In 2014, the 221st General Assembly voted to amend the section of the Directory for Worship on marriage services to include same-gender couples.  The amendment was approved by a majority of presbyteries and became effective in June, 2015.

Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family. Marriage involves a unique commitment between two people, traditionally a man and a woman, to love and support each other for the rest of their lives. The sacrificial love that unites the couple sustains them as faithful and responsible members of the church and the wider community."

We are part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denomination.

We were officially organized on May 20, 1951 when Golden Valley and the surrounding suburbs were first growing in the post-war building boom.

The original chapel, now the Cornerstone Room, was built in 1952.

The Fellowship Hall was added in 1957.

The current sanctuary was added in 1965.

The Education wing was added in 1988.

The current sanctuary was built with space for an organ which took over 40 years to arrive. Read more about the history of our organ.

Valley Church currently has almost 500 members.

Our neighborhood in Golden Valley is experiencing a resurgence of young families.
